100 world-class conservation photographers are selling their works in support of ocean conservation and I’m honored to be apart of it. 100 for the Ocean is an annual event organized by conservation photographers Paul Nicklen, Cristina Mittermeier, and Chase Teron. All of the art is on sale starting at $100, and 100% of net profits benefit three ocean-focused organizations making a difference in ocean conservation.
This image is included in the print sale. I took this photo of a Bajau sea gypsy woman fishing for her family in the warm waters of the Togian Islands in Indonesia. The Bajau Laut are some of the last remaining sea nomads who live and rely primarily off the oceans for survival. For generations, these nomadic seafarers have thrived amidst the vast waters, mastering survival skills and unique traditions. From remarkable free-diving to crafting intricate boats, their bond with the sea is profound.
