Mongolia Workshop Terms & Conditions

Workshop dates: March 11–24, 2027
Workshop price: US$11,000 per person

The Expedition

This expedition is operated and led by Karai Expeditions. Jody MacDonald joins as a special guest photographer and photography instructor.

Price & Deposit

The workshop price is US$11,000 per person. The USD price is fixed once your booking is confirmed and will not change because of exchange rate fluctuations.

A US$650 deposit secures your place and is credited toward the total workshop price, leaving a remaining balance of US$10,350.

The deposit helps confirm hotel accommodation and arrangements with our Kazakh hosts.

Deposits may be paid by credit card, wire transfer, Wise or Venmo. Please contact workshops@jodymacdonaldphoto.com for wire or Wise/Venmo payment instructions.

Remaining Balance

The remaining balance of US$10,350 is due by January 15, 2027, payable by wire transfer directly to Karai Expeditions. Bank details and payment instructions will be provided after booking.

For bookings confirmed after January 15, 2027, the remaining balance is due upon confirmation.

Cancellation by a Participant

If you cancel your booking, your US$650 deposit and any remaining balance already paid are non-refundable.

If the organizers cancel the expedition before departure, all workshop payments will be refunded, including your deposit.

If the organizers reschedule the expedition before departure, you may choose to transfer your booking to the new dates or receive a full refund of all workshop payments.

Cancellation requests must be sent to workshops@jodymacdonaldphoto.com.

We strongly recommend purchasing trip cancellation and interruption insurance that covers your workshop payments. Reimbursement through insurance depends on your policy and the circumstances of your cancellation.

Cancellation or Postponement by the Organizers

If the organizers cancel the expedition before departure, you will receive a full refund of all workshop payments, including your deposit.

If the organizers postpone the expedition before departure, you may choose to transfer your booking to the revised dates or receive a full refund of all workshop payments.

Refunds cover workshop payments only. Flights, visas, insurance and other independently arranged expenses are not included.

Travel Insurance

Participants must arrange travel insurance appropriate for this expedition, including emergency medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation.

You are responsible for confirming with your insurer that your policy covers travel in Mongolia, the activities included in the itinerary and evacuation from remote locations.

Trip cancellation and interruption insurance is strongly recommended.

Expedition Conditions & Itinerary

This expedition involves remote travel, winter weather and limited access to medical care. Participants should understand these conditions and be prepared for flexibility throughout the journey.

Routes, transport, accommodation and daily plans may change because of weather, local conditions, safety considerations or the needs of our hosts.

The workshop lasts fourteen days. The migration forms part of the itinerary; the entire workshop is not spent accompanying the migration. Its timing and pace depend on the families, their animals and local conditions.

Travel Documents & Personal Preparation

Participants are responsible for obtaining a valid passport, any required visas and other necessary travel documents.

Please review the itinerary and discuss any health, mobility or other concerns that could affect your participation with the organizers before booking.

Acceptance of Terms

By paying your deposit, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions, including the payment deadlines and cancellation policy.

These terms do not limit any rights you may have under applicable law.
